Rachel Dahlen Aesthetics is proud to offer Botox Cosmetic, a renowned aesthetic injectable treatment that can reduce the appearance of facial wrinkles, enhance facial features, and prevent certain aging signs. Chosen for its versatility, reliability, and safety, Botox can be applied to various areas such as between the brows, forehead, around the eyes, bunny lines, around the mouth, and more. It can even be used for sculpting the jawline, neck, and corners of the mouth, as well as providing a poutier lip. Additionally, Botox can effectively and safely treat excessive underarm sweating. We customize each treatment to suit your individual needs and desires. During your complimentary consultation at Rachel Dahlen Aesthetics, we will discuss your goals, risks, benefits, and expectations.

Botox is used to treat many areas but these are some of the most common areas of treatment:

  • Glabella (11’s)
  • Forehead
  • Crows feet
  • Skin bands on the neck (Platysmal bands)
  • Chin

Results can be noticed in a few days but takes up to two weeks to notice the full effect. Results generally last 3-4 months.

Botox is a purified substance that’s derived from bacteria. When injected into the muscle there’s a temporary pause in communication to your nerves that decreases the ability of the muscles to contract which provides a subtle softening of fine lines and wrinkles. This generally lasts 3-4 months and for continued effect another treatment would be warranted.

Each area and individual require a unique amount of units to achieve the desired look. Contact us for your free, in-person consultation to see what treatment plan is right for you.

        Botox/Dysport FAQ’s

        What is Botox?

Botox is a naturally occurring protein derived from the bacterium Clostridium Botulinum. When purified, as is the case with many drugs and medications such as Penicillin, Botulinum toxin becomes a safe and effective treatment for not only cosmetic purposes but also for various medical conditions, including migraines and excessive sweating.

How does Botox work to smooth wrinkles and more?

In a cosmetic context, Botox can be used to relax facial muscles associated with “dynamic wrinkles” by preventing motion in those muscles. Imagine a pleated skirt: if you relax the pleats, the lines will soften over time. Botox helps “lay the skirt flat,” allowing your skin to repair itself. The cumulative effect after multiple treatments results in softening. Botox is excellent at preventing lines from forming (pleating the skirt) and decent at correcting them (laying the skirt flat). Static lines form due to the repeated contraction of muscles that cause the skin to fold in the same spot repeatedly during facial expressions. Botox can also play a role in facial contouring by relaxing specific muscles in a way that counters the natural aging process, such as turning the corners of the mouth upward. Additionally, Botox can be used with dermal fillers to extend the fillers’ longevity in certain facial areas (around the mouth).

        What can Botox address?

At Rachel Dahlen Aesthetics, Botox Cosmetic is perfect for targeting lines between the brows, forehead, and lines and wrinkles around the eyes. It can also be used under the eye to open the eye, on the jawline for facial slimming, or on the neck for a Nefertiti neck lift. Botox Cosmetic can help with eyebrow shaping and enhancement, brow lifting, and reducing underarm sweating. By forcing muscles to stay at rest, Botox Cosmetic can prevent lines from forming due to repetitive folding, which contributes to deeper wrinkles in the future. This prevention is where Botox Cosmetic shines the most. For some lines and wrinkles, Botox may not be the appropriate solution, and dermal fillers such as Juvederm and Restylane may be required. This will be discussed during your complimentary consultation at Rachel Dahlen Aesthetics.

        Dysport Vs. Botox

Dysport offers the same benefits and expectations as Botox Cosmetic, and some people report that Dysport can take effect a bit faster. The accessory proteins surrounding the active ingredient are what sets the two apart. Both can be safely used on the face simultaneously!

What does a Botox appointment look like?

After discussing your medical history, goals, risks, benefits, and expectations at Rachel Dahlen Aesthetics, a fine needle will be used to inject a small, precise amount of the refined protein into the facial muscles responsible for wrinkles or into targeted muscles to achieve a lifting effect. Most people compare the injections to a mosquito bite and find them painless. An ice pack may be used beforehand to alleviate any discomfort, but this treatment is essentially pain-free. A common misconception about Botox Cosmetic is that it will prevent you from being expressive, which is not true. With a skilled practitioner at Rachel Dahlen Aesthetics, your wrinkles will be softened while you can still move your facial muscles. Our goal is to provide a “refreshed Saturday morning” look, with movement but no wrinkles.

        How Long Does Botox Last?

At Rachel Dahlen Aesthetics, we emphasize that the dosage determines the duration. It’s essential to treat the area correctly to achieve results that last three to four months, depending on the injection site. The ideal time for another treatment is when muscle activity starts to return but wrinkles have not yet reappeared. After your injections, you will see gradual changes for up to two weeks, with most beneficial effects visible within the first week. This subtle progression ensures that you will look relaxed and refreshed, but not “done.”  Most people are having treatments every 3-4 months and enjoying the cumulative effects!

        What is Botox Injection Recovery?

You can return to your daily routine immediately after treatment at Rachel Dahlen Aesthetics. Makeup can be applied right away. In some cases, you may experience a mild headache for 24 hours, which can be treated with Tylenol but will resolve on its own shortly after treatment. Some mild tenderness or bruising may occur. Aftercare instructions are simple: avoid firm pressure on treated areas for one week (massages, facials, brow waxes), stay upright for 4 hours, and avoid exercise, saunas, or hot tubs for 24 hours. While no procedure is risk-free, this injectable has been used successfully for many years.

        What Complements Botox Treatments?

Botox injections at Rachel Dahlen Aesthetics are excellent for preventing dynamic lines and correcting static lines, but that’s just the beginning. Think of Botox Cosmetic as a visit to the dentist, while your daily skincare is like brushing your teeth. Consider your topical treatments as investment protection. Vitamin C, Vitamin A, and SPF are the essential building blocks for anti-aging. Product recommendations will be made after an in-office discussion.
